Here are five things we are loving this week! We hope y’all have a great weekend!
I love thick fall fabrics. Corduroy, tweed, wool, fleece, velvet. Being wrapped in all of those things at once is a dream come true. Especially if I then have a down comforter on and my furry booties from L.L. Bean.
This is something I am NOT loving right now. Tis’ the season for dry hands, and it drives me absolutely bananas. I feel like I have tried every lotion out there and nothing works for more than an hour, and then I am re-applying it again. So I am asking for y’alls help! Do you have a hand cream that you love and swear by?! Please let me know in the comment section!!!
Auto Repair Reference Center by EBSCOhost
Yes, one of my favorite things this week is a database available through the library. My boyfriend had some car troubles earlier this week and the estimated labor cost was out of control. I, being a librarian, went right to a database we have to see what I could find out. ARRC tells you the labor time each repair takes so you can be better informed about what the mechanic is trying to tell you. From the database we discovered that the labor was only 30 minutes. We did the math- the local Firestone was charging $400 an hour. So, in conclusion, do your research and save some money!
This puppy. She is the best.
This is Sophie, my 4 year old Maltipoo and she is pretty darn adorable if I do say so myself. With the colder weather, she becomes super cuddly and I am loving every second of it. We call her “Miss Independent” because she is just fine laying in another room, or under the couch, when we are home and acts like she could care less that we are there. We know this isn’t true though because she cries hysterically when we leave. This cuddling puppy is rare so I am savoring every minute of it.
I am so excited for Dana’s new puppy Olive and Sophie to meet! We have decided that they are going to be best friends…at least that is what we are hoping for! We will be sure to post pictures of their first date!
Call The Midwife
I watched the show and now I’m reading the book. It’s such a lovely memoir that pulls you right in and takes you away to 1950s East End London. We don’t always see kind friendships between women on TV and whenever I watch it I have such a warm and fuzzy feeling.
One Pan Meals
This week, I tried this recipe from No. 2 Pencil that was a “One Pan Meal” and I am hooked. Not only was it super easy, it was sooooo good. I want all my meals to only use one pan from now on. Yea, I know that isn’t possible, but a girl can dream right?
My display is up! It has been a hit in both the physical world and the digital world! Two people tweeted about it and tagged the library! I have to use only exclamation points because I’m so excited about it!
Alice & Olivia for Starbucks
STOP IT. A mug with a tutu AND a bow tie. AND gold accents. I can’t. As soon as I saw this I immediately went online to buy it. I don’t even drink coffee y’all!!!
This mug is a collaboration between designers Alice & Olivia. They said their inspiration was their Alice & Olivia dancing bear, their signature stripes and their signature tutu. It is such a fun cup! For those of you who can’t handle the tutu, it is removable.
You can also purchase the matching bear. I was happy to find that you could just buy the mug without the pair because originally I thought you could only buy the gift set. That adorable bear would have just become a chew toy for Sophie .
Mint Hot Chocolate
Mint and chocolate is one of my favorite combinations. My favorite ice cream is mint chocolate chip, the family birthday cake is chocolate cake with mint icing, I always get Thin Mints from the Girl Scouts. Now that it’s getting colder out it’s hot chocolate season. Every Friday morning I meet my mom and her teacher friends for coffee before work but I’m getting Mint Hot Chocolate this week!
Mini Mason Jar Pies
I LOVE making pies. Mostly because it is my absolutely most favorite dessert, but also because they are always so pretty when they come out of the oven. I always feel so accomplished when I finish making a pie.
This week, I saw Fancy Ashley make mini pies in mason jars on Everyday Cheer. I have decided that I have to try this! I am in charge of making the pies for our Thanksgiving feast and I am thinking this would be a really cute way for everyone to be able to try a little bit of each kind of pie. I am going to do a test run this weekend to see how long it takes to make them. I will be sure to post about!
